Rebecca Sullivan (PrincipaI Investigator)
Rebecca was inspired to launch this project after writing Bonnie Sherr Klein's Not a Love Story, one of Studio D's most controversial feature documentaries. She is the (co-)author/(co-)editor of seven other books, a past Chair of the Sexuality Studies Association and a past President of the Canadian Communication Association. Rebecca is a Professor in the Department of English and the Gender and Sexuality Studies Program at the University of Calgary.
Zoë Druick (Co-Investigator)
One of the foremost scholars of Canadian documentary film, Zoë is the author of Projecting Canada: Government Policy and Documentary Film at the National Film Board, the co-editor of The Grierson Effect: Tracing Documentary's International Movement, in addition to three other books and numerous articles. Zoë is a Professor in the School of Communication at Simon Fraser University.
Annie Murray (Co-Investigator)
Annie is the Rare Books and Special Collections Librarian at the University of Calgary. In addition to shepherding the accession of some of Studio D alumni’s personal fonds, she oversaw two major special collections with significant outcomes for feminist media research: the migration of the Glenbow Library and Archives and the accession of the EMI Music Canada Archive. Annie is a Co-Investigator for SpokenWeb, supported by a SSHRC Partnership Grant.
Layla Cameron (Research Assistant and Collaborator)
Layla is an academic, filmmaker, and journalist whose work was awarded the Nora & Ted Sterling Prize in Support of Controversy. Layla successfully completed her dissertation, Sticky Representations of Fatness on Contemporary Reality Television: Envisioning Fat Presents and Futures, in 2022. John Brosz (Collaborator)
John is the Data and Visualization Curator at the University of Calgary where he provides data visualization support, consultation, and training to scholars across campus. John’s research expertise lies in information visualization, computer graphics, and human-computer interfaces.
Jennifer Febbraro (Collaborator)
Jenny is an artist and educator from Sault Ste. Marie. Her dissertation, Fracturing White Feminism: Race, Nation, and Representation at the National Film Board’s New Initiatives in Film Program at Studio D, was successfully completed in 2023. Ludovik Chojnacki (Research Assistant)
Ludovik Chojnacki is a Computer Science major at the University of Calgary, supporting Dr. Brosz with database and visualization programming.
